The communiqué and regulation regarding changes in the regulations regarding “registering devices with electronic identity information” prepared by the Information Technologies and Communication Authority (BTK) came into force after being published in the Official Gazette.

With the new regulations, technical and administrative updates were made to the IMEI registration and management processes.

Accordingly, foreign mission ID card holders who are granted tax exemption by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will apply for device registration through the e-Government Gateway.

The information declared during the application will be forwarded to BTK after being verified electronically by the relevant authorities. The IMEI numbers of the devices in question will be kept on the “white list” during the validity period of the relevant mission member’s ID card. Devices whose ID card expires will be put on the “black list” and will be closed for use after 120 days of use.

The IMEI change procedures to be carried out in case the device or its main board is replaced due to the malfunction of the devices brought by passengers from abroad have also been rearranged.

In this context, the person who made the first registration application will be able to apply for change via e-Government.

In applications for IMEI change, the document issued by the company performing the change will need to meet certain conditions.

The document must include company title and contact information, any changes made due to malfunction, old and new IMEI numbers, company letterhead or stamp.

The provision regarding making some applications through subscriber registration centers has also been abolished.

Thus, these transactions will be carried out through the e-Government Gateway.
