Robert Kennedy Jr. is considering joining the Trump campaign. Many Germans believe Harris will win. All information in the news blog.

11.15pm: Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump is continuing his counter-program to the Democratic Party Convention and is trying to win votes in the hotly contested state of Michigan. During an appearance at a police station in the city of Howell, the 78-year-old focused on the issue of crime. In the big cities of the USA, you cannot go out on the street to buy a loaf of bread, he said. “You get shot, robbed, raped – whatever it may be,” claimed the Republican. “We have these cities that are great cities where people are afraid to live – they are fleeing the cities of our country.”

8.30 p.m.: Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is considering giving up his presidential campaign and joining Donald Trump. This is what his running mate Nicole Shanahan said in the podcast “Impact Theory”. The 70-year-old is running as an independent candidate, but is considered to have no chance.

The campaign currently sees two options, said Shanahan: “Either we stay in the race and form a new party – but that would risk Harris winning the election because we would be taking votes away from Trump.” Harris had performed significantly better in polls that asked about all three candidates than in the two-way duel with just Trump. “Or we drop out now and ally ourselves with Trump. Not an easy decision,” said Shanahan.

The Kennedy campaign is in a bad position after Kamala Harris entered the race. It has significantly less money at its disposal and only had $3.9 million at the end of July. In addition, RFK Jr. is currently having to fight to even appear on ballots in all states, reports Axios.

18:44: According to a survey, a majority of Germans believe that Kamala Harris will win the US presidential election on November 5. 64 percent of those surveyed believe that the Democrat will prevail against Donald Trump. The German Chancellor also believes that she would be a “good president.” Read more about this here.

11.25 am: According to Donald Trump, his Democratic rival Kamala Harris has canceled the planned TV debate on Fox News. Trump wrote this on his own social network Truth Social. The debate is scheduled for September 4. Harris’ team has not yet confirmed the alleged cancellation.

“This development does not surprise me,” Trump continued in his post. “Because I have a feeling she knows it is very difficult, at best, for her to defend her record-breaking flip-flopping on absolutely everything she once believed in, including her statements that there will be no fracking in Pennsylvania and her appalling performance at the border.”

Instead of the TV debate, Trump has said he will attend a so-called town hall, an event where the audience can ask questions. This event will also be broadcast on Fox News and hosted by radio host Sean Hannity. Hannity is considered to be close to Trump.

7.20 am: For Joe Biden, the appearance at the Democratic Party Convention is a special moment – and one that evokes some emotions. His family is at his side. Read more about his appearance here.
