Trump is watching one of the UFC’s most popular fights at New York’s Madison Square Garden. Also there: Musk and the newly appointed Secretary of Health Kennedy.
US President-elect Donald Trump is currently busy putting together his government team – now the 78-year-old is obviously taking a break. He attended an Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) heavyweight fight in New York with celebrity supporters.
At the side of the future US President in the famous Madison Square Garden were, among others, the CEO of the UFC, Dana White, as well as the tech billionaire and future government advisor Elon Musk. Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who was recently appointed Health Secretary by Trump, and the rock rapper Kid Rock were also there.
Trump attended the heavyweight fight between Stipe Miocic and Jon Jones on Saturday evening (local time). The fight was supposed to take place last November, but was postponed because Jones, considered the best UFC fighter in the world, was injured in training.
The UFC is the largest professional league for mixed martial arts (MMA), a combat sport that is particularly popular in the USA and combines various disciplines. During their duels in cage-like rings, fighters use elements and techniques from boxing, kickboxing and wrestling, among other things.
Trump last appeared at a rally in Madison Square Garden a few days before the presidential election that came under heavy criticism for racist remarks. The appearance of comedian Tony Hinchcliffe, who described Puerto Rico as a “floating island made of garbage”, particularly caused a stir. Trump, however, later described the event as a “celebration of love.”
