Jimmy Kimmel gets into conflict with the US President again after a joke. The First Lady also speaks out – and demands that he be fired.

Donald and Melania Trump are demanding that late-night host Jimmy Kimmel lose his slot on ABC after making a joke about the US presidential family.

“Kimmel’s hateful and violent rhetoric is aimed at dividing our country. His monologue about my family is not comedy – his words are harmful and exacerbate America’s political divide,” the first lady wrote in a post on

The First Lady did not address the fact that her husband had repeatedly made condescending comments about Kimmel in the past.

On his show, the presenter described the wife of the US President as having the radiance of an “expectant widow”. “So beautiful. Mrs. Trump, you have the glow of an expectant widow,” Kimmel joked. He made the remark on his show last Thursday, two days before the shooting incident on the sidelines of the correspondents’ dinner with US President Trump in Washington on Saturday evening. An armed man tried to overcome a security checkpoint one floor above the entrance to the event hall. Several shots were fired during his arrest. A court accused the suspect on Monday of attempting to murder the US President.

One of the recurring jokes on Kimmel’s show is the claim that Melania Trump actually doesn’t like the 79-year-old president and is seeking distance from him. He also repeatedly discussed references to Donald Trump’s possible health problems.

Donald Trump later joined his wife: “Jimmy Kimmel should be fired from Disney and ABC immediately,” he wrote on Truth Social. The US President described Kimmel’s comments as a “despicable call to violence” in a post on his Truth Social platform.

There was initially no reaction from Disney and ABC. According to information from CNN, Kimmel recorded the next episode of his show in Los Angeles in the afternoon, which was to be broadcast in the evening.

Kimmel is one of the most famous late-night talkers on US television. The ABC broadcasts the show and he has hosted it since 2003. It is not the first time that Kimmel has fallen out of favor with the president because of his satire. The ABC removed the presenter, who criticizes Trump almost daily, from the station for several days in September after a statement about the killed right-wing activist Charlie Kirk. Kimmel later apologized and ABC renewed his contract.
