Negotiation efforts for a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip are going in circles as Israel continues to attack. Palestinians have bad suspicions.
The Israeli army has killed at least 41 people in several attacks in the Gaza Strip, according to a report by the Palestinian news agency Wafa. Numerous other people were injured in the attacks in Jabalia in the north as well as Deir al-Balah in the center and Rafah in the south of the coastal strip, the agency wrote, citing information from medical circles in the coastal strip.
There was initially no information from the Israeli side about the fighting or the report. The information could not be independently verified.
In Beit Hanun in the far northeast of the Gaza Strip, the Israeli army said it blew up a large building complex. The army emphasized that the buildings, only about three kilometers from the Israeli city of Sderot, posed a danger with their anti-tank positions, tunnels and launch pads for rocket attacks on Israel.
Palestinians accuse Israel of wanting to depopulate the entire northern Gaza Strip. Right-wing extremist circles in Israel are calling for the establishment of settlements in the Gaza Strip. However, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has assured several times that this is not planned.
Israel has been fighting the terrorist organization in the Gaza Strip since the unprecedented Hamas massacre on October 7, 2023. Since then, according to Palestinian figures, more than 45,700 people have been killed and almost 109,000 injured. Negotiations on a ceasefire have been stalled for months.
