Donald Trump is increasing his rhetoric. All information in the news blog.
2:10 a.m.: Donald Trump has railed sharply against undocumented migrants. In a speech on Saturday (local time) in the small town of Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin, Trump described those who committed violent crimes as “monsters,” “ice-cold murderers” and “vile animals.” Trump blamed Harris and Democratic President Joe Biden for the entry of undocumented migrants into the United States.
He also intensified his personal insults against Kamala Harris. The former president called the Democratic vice president, who visited the U.S.-Mexico border for the first time Friday as part of her campaign for the 2024 presidential election, “mentally impaired.” During her visit to the border, Harris outlined her plans to fix “our broken immigration system.” Harris called for a tightening of asylum laws and made combating fentanyl a “top priority.” A large portion of the opioid drug enters the United States via the southern border.
Harris is ahead – at least nationally

“This is an illegal practice,” he wrote. He hopes the Justice Department will prosecute Google “for this blatant election interference.”

12:20 a.m.: Some judges at a New York appeals court apparently have doubts about a verdict against Donald Trump. It’s about the fraud trial in which the former president was sentenced to a $464 million fine. During a hearing in the ongoing appeal process, one of the judges asked whether Judge Arthur Engoron’s verdict was an attempt to go further than was actually necessary. “The immense sentence in this case is disturbing,” said Judge Peter Moulton, one of five judges. The prosecution argued that there were numerous cases of fraud and that Trump profited enormously. Other judges also had questions about the amount of the sentence. Trump was convicted of irregularities in his companies and was also banned from doing business in New York State for three years.
10:07 a.m.: British Prime Minister Keir Starmer met with Donald Trump in New York. According to the British news agency AP, the conversation took place on Thursday in Trump Tower. A central aspect of the meeting was to build a personal relationship between the politicians, which is of great importance in the special connection between the two states, Starmer told the news agency.
Due to scheduling difficulties, Starmer did not meet with Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris, but has repeatedly emphasized his intention to meet with both candidates. British Foreign Minister David Lammy, who has repeatedly described Trump as a Nazi sympathizer, also took part in the joint meeting in New York.
5.45 a.m.: The Secret Service has told Donald Trump’s campaign that it will have to postpone a planned outdoor event in Wisconsin, according to a report by ABC News. It was unable to protect its outdoor rally in Wisconsin on Saturday due to staffing issues, a source familiar with the situation said. Apparently the Secret Service, which guards US President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris as well as Donald Trump, has reached its capacity limit because of the UN General Assembly, it is said.
