The research published in the scientific journal Reviews of Geophysics by the Germany-based Max Planck Institute has once again revealed the impending danger for Turkey.
According to the study, the Eastern Mediterranean and the Middle East will soon be shaken by unprecedented extreme weather events. The region has been described as the “center of climate change,” emphasizing that the rate of temperature increase in the region is almost twice the global average.
It was noted that countries in the region, including Turkey, will experience crises such as heat waves, droughts, dust storms and excessive rainfall in the coming years.
It is estimated that temperatures in the region will rise by 5 degrees by the end of this century, and unprecedented scorching heat will be experienced, especially in the summer months.
