Despite the aggressive competition in the artificial intelligence industry and the rise of strong competitors such as ChatGPT and Claude, technology giant Google continues to consolidate its leadership position. The most recent data released by BofA Securities revealed that Google is not giving way to its competitors in both web traffic and mobile application market. Google continues to grow despite increasing competition in the field of artificial intelligence. Google’s global daily web visits reached 2.8 billion in June, up 4% from a year earlier, according to data compiled by BofA Securities.
ChatGPT’s web traffic remained flat at 179 million. In comparison, Gemini’s web visits increased by 341 percent year-on-year and Claude’s by 736 percent. Meta AI also recorded 98 percent growth. However, despite their high growth rates, Gemini and Claude’s total traffic is still far behind Google and ChatGPT.
According to Sensor Tower data, the number of global daily active users of the Google application increased by 1 percent in June compared to the previous month, reaching 2.2 billion. During the same period, ChatGPT remained flat with 440 million daily active users, while Gemini increased its number of users by 7 percent to 118 million, and Claude increased by 9 percent to 18 million.
The artificial intelligence application that gained the most new users in June was Gemini. Google’s AI assistant gained 8 million new daily active users in just one month, while ChatGPT and Claude added nearly 2 million new users each. Meta AI lost approximately 200 thousand daily active users in the same period.
Statcounter data also shows that Google is strengthening its leadership in the search engine market. The company’s global search engine market share increased by 79 basis points monthly and 171 basis points annually in June, reaching 91.3 percent. Bing’s global market share increased by 30 basis points monthly to 4.7 percent. Google’s market share in the US increased by 86 basis points monthly to 86.7 percent.
Data shows that the proliferation of artificial intelligence tools does not yet threaten traditional search engine habits, on the contrary, Google is rapidly expanding its user base with its own artificial intelligence solutions (Gemini).
