The production of the automotive main industry increased by 5.3 percent in April compared to the same month of the previous year, reaching 126,546 units, in parallel with the strong increase in light commercial vehicle production despite the decline in automobile production.
Automotive Industry Association (OSD), Although automobile production decreased by 7.4 percent in April to 68,912 units, light commercial vehicle production increased by 35.4 percent to 44,042 units. Other commercial vehicle production also increased by 3 percent.
Excluding seasonal fluctuations, production in the past 12 months increased by 3.6 percent in April to 1.3 million units, and automobile production decreased by 8 percent to 827,437 units.
According to the information provided by industry representatives, there is a decrease in automobile production as automobile factories in Türkiye prepare their production lines for the new models to be released this year.
While the total exports of the sector increased by 9.1 percent to 85,043 units, again due to commercial vehicles, the number of imports decreased by 6.2 percent and decreased to 73,153 units due to the contraction in automobiles.
