Inflation increases for 16 million retirees and more than 4 million public employees for January 2025 have been determined. While SSK and Bağ-Kur retirees received an increase equal to the 6-month inflation rate of 15.75 percent, the increase rate for civil servants and civil servant retirees was 11.54 percent. At the same time, the base salary, which was 12,500 TL, was increased by 15.75 percent to 14,469 TL.
The bill regarding the base salary increase was also presented to the Turkish Grand National Assembly. If there is no change, the base salary will be 14,469 TL until July. So what is the base salary? What is root salary? How is it calculated?
According to the news by Faruk Erdem from Sabah, the root salary indicates the real salary of the retiree. In other words, your salary, calculated from the premiums you pay, actually determines your net salary, in other words, your root salary. An additional payment of 4 percent is added to this salary every month and deposited in the bank.
The practice, which started in 2019, determines the lowest pension. The government sets a figure as the minimum pension. The new base salary determined for January was 14,469 TL. If your base salary is below this, it is supplemented to your monthly base salary with a social payment made by the Treasury.
