Alice Weidel hopes for a Trump victory in the US presidential election in November. Incumbent Biden is “no longer in control of his mental faculties”.
AfD co-leader Alice Weidel is hoping for a victory for Donald Trump in the US presidential election in November. “I’m definitely keeping my fingers crossed for Donald Trump,” said Weidel in the ZDF “summer interview” broadcast on Sunday. Incumbent Joe Biden “must not be president.” He is “obviously no longer in control of his mental faculties,” said Weidel, referring to the recent discussions about Biden’s health.
The AfD leader hopes that if former US President Trump wins again, aid to Ukraine will be stopped. Trump “promised to end the war in Ukraine by cutting off financial support,” said Weidel. “And I believe he will keep his word.”
With regard to the war in Ukraine, AfD co-leader Tino Chrupalla proposed a peace conference in Berlin involving Russia. “You can’t discuss peace if Russia or a state isn’t there,” Chrupalla said in the ARD “Summer Interview,” which was also broadcast on Sunday.
It is important “that Ukraine declares that it will not become a NATO member or an EU member,” said Chrupalla. “These are things, for example, where Russia’s security interests would also have to be taken into account.”
