Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) announced the new support package for students and families in the 2026-2027 academic year.
Speaking at the meeting held in Saraçhane, IMM Deputy Chairman Nuri Aslan stated that the total budget of the support package is 8.7 billion lira.
The most striking application of the package was transportation support. Students will be able to get their first monthly transportation subscription for only 1 TL between 21 September and 17 October. The application can be used regardless of the day the subscription is purchased. Approximately 441 million lira resources were allocated for this support.
Bill support for student houses
For the first time, IMM will also provide support for water and natural gas bills of student residences.
In December, January and February, bill support will be provided to 20 thousand student homes, up to a total of 7 thousand 500 lira for three months. A resource of 150 million lira was allocated for the program.
In addition, with the “Pending Student House Invoice” application, Istanbulites will be able to contribute to the bills of student houses through solidarity.
12 thousand 500 TL for accommodation and deposit
Within the scope of the “Welcome Home” program, a one-time housing and deposit support of 12 thousand 500 liras will be provided to 20 thousand student homes.
The total resource allocated for this program was announced as 250 million lira.
