After sales slowed down in the summer months in the Turkish automobile market, brands focused on September campaigns. With the introduction of different options, from cash discounts to low-interest loans, the difference between the list price and the promotional sales price for some models began to widen. While the data of the Automotive Distributors and Mobility Association reveals the slowdown in the market; In August 2026, the automobile and light commercial vehicle market was 81 thousand 31 units, 61 thousand 529 of which were automobiles. In the January-August period, total automobile and light commercial vehicle sales decreased by 11.9 percent compared to the same period of the previous year, with 719 thousand 996 units. The decline in automobile sales reached 13.8 percent.
FOUR MODELS LEFT BELOW 1.5 MILLION TL
When September prices are examined, Türkiye’s cheapest new car is Opel Corsa 1.2 100 HP Gasoline MT6. The campaign sales price of the model was announced as 1 million 444 thousand TL. While Opel’s official price list lists the recommended turnkey price of the same vehicle for the 2026 model year as 1 million 535 thousand TL, the price is reduced by 91 thousand TL with a special campaign for cash purchase. Corsa is followed by Fiat Egea Easy 1.6 Manuel with 1 million 449 thousand 900 TL. Dacia New Sandero Expression TCe 100 and Kia Picanto 1.0L 67 PS AMT share the third place of the list with their prices of 1 million 460 thousand TL. On Dacia’s official website, the starting price of the New Sandero Expression TCe 100 is shown as 1 million 460 thousand TL. The WLTP average consumption value for the 100 horsepower gasoline engine of the car with a six-speed manual transmission is announced as 5.5 liters per 100 kilometers.
THRESHOLD IS INCREASING IN AUTOMATIC GEAR
One of the striking points of the list is the price difference between manual and automatic transmission. While the cheapest Opel Corsa and Fiat Egea options come with a manual transmission, the Kia Picanto with an automated transmission is at the bottom of the list for those who want automatic use, with a price of 1 million 460 thousand TL. The importance of automatic transmission is also reflected in market data. According to ODMD’s January-August 2026 data, 97 percent of the cars sold in Türkiye are models with automatic transmission. In other words, manual cars now represent a very small part of the total market. While Hyundai i20 Jump is next on the list with a price of 1 million 555 thousand TL, the price of the electric Citroen e-C3 is 1 million 600 thousand TL.
ELECTRIC CAR DECREASED TO 1.6 MILLION TL
Another striking point of the list is the price level of electric cars. While Citroen e-C3 83 kW is one of the lowest priced electric options on the list with 1 million 600 thousand TL, the price of Türkiye’s domestic electric car Togg T10X V1 RWD Standart Range is listed as 1 million 909 thousand 48 TL. Peugeot E-208 GT is at 2 million 80 thousand TL, and Ford Puma Gen-E is at 2 million 158 thousand 700 TL.
SUV DEMAND SHAPES THE MARKET
The change in consumers’ automobile preferences is also reflected in price lists. According to ODMD data, 66.1 percent of the cars sold in the January-August period were SUV models. The share of the C segment in the total automobile market was 55.1 percent. However, when the lowest priced cars are examined, compact hatchback and sedan models are at the top of the list. The price threshold goes higher for SUV models.
