The length of GTA 6 has been revealed and the news world for video games is confused! Statements by Rockstar North co-chairman Rob Nelson indicate that Grand Theft Auto VI (GTA VI) will be the longest game in the series. Nelson said the game takes about 80 hours, including the main story and some additional objectives.
Speaking to The New York Times, Rob Nelson explained that his own gameplay experience during the development process of the game took around 80 hours. It was stated that this period does not only consist of the main story, but also includes optional objectives that affect some of the story.
It is unknown whether Nelson’s 80 hours of gameplay includes all open-world events or 100 percent completion of the game. However, the statement “some optional quests” may indicate that most side quests and activities have not been completed.
For comparison, the main content of GTA 4 and GTA 5 offered approximately 30 hours of gameplay. Red Dead Redemption 2, on the other hand, required 50-60 hours.
According to How Long to Beat data, it takes an average of 51.5 hours to complete the main story and some side missions in GTA 5. For players trying to complete all the content in the game, this time increases to 89.5 hours on average.
Considering that the 80-hour period in GTA 6 does not include 100 percent completion, the total play time of the game can be expected to be even higher.
