Angry Trump threatens journalist with “punishment”

The relationship between US President Trump and NBC journalist Welker has been tense for a long time. Now he has threatened her.

Trump repeatedly takes action against media outlets he considers too critical or “left-wing.” He sued several newspapers, including the Wall Street Journal and the New York Times, and ordered cuts in government funding for public broadcasters. Ministries and federal agencies such as the Pentagon and the FBI tightened their restrictions against journalists under Trump’s presidency. The media regulator FCC, led by Trump confidant Brendan Carr, threatened broadcasters with license revocation.

However, the pressure on the media is increasingly met with resistance. Several broadcasters have already sued the FCC, citing freedom of expression protected by the US Constitution.

The relationship between Trump and NBC journalist Welker has long been strained. In June, the president cut short an interview with Welker after a heated exchange of words. During the conversation, he had become increasingly angry about Welker’s questions, especially about the Iran war.
