According to Chinese official media, the humanoid robot “Lightning” produced by the technology company Honor performed a historic success in the training phase of the upcoming World Humanoid Robot Games.
The humanoid robot reached a maximum speed of 14.5 m/s while running and completed the 100-meter distance in 9.32 seconds. With this result, Lightning surpassed the record of 9.58 seconds set by Usain Bolt at the 2009 Berlin World Championship.
SUPERIOR PERFORMANCE ALSO IN LONG DISTANCE
Not only limited to short-distance speed, the robot also topped the endurance field by completing the 21-kilometer half marathon course in the capital Beijing in 50 minutes and 26 seconds in April. The time in question even exceeded the world record pace of professional male runners.
Engineers applied mechanical improvements to the robot, which had a height of 169 cm and a leg size of 95 cm during the half marathon, and increased its leg length by 10 cm by applying mechanical improvements before the new tournament.
