Minister of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change Murat Kurum, in his post on his social media account, emphasized that citizens showed great interest in the Deposit Management System (DOA), which was implemented in line with the “Zero Waste” vision.
According to the shared data, a total of 33 million 333 thousand 990 packages were collected in the 17-day period since July 1, when the system was activated. The number of users registered to the system, which aims to prevent environmental pollution and provide raw materials to the economy, reached 2 million 331 thousand 984 in a short time.
In his post, Minister Kurum used the phrase “We protect our resources and protect the future together” and gave the message that environmentally friendly steps will be continued with determination.
THE MOST PACKAGING WAS COLLECTED IN ISTANBUL AND DENIZLI
City-based data on deposit return machines and the amount of packaging collected through the system was also announced. Accordingly, the top 5 provinces in Turkey with the most packaging collected are: 2 million 760 thousand 802 in Istanbul, 1 million 332 thousand 752 in Denizli, 1 million 260 thousand 888 in Sakarya, 1 million 225 thousand 795 in Ankara.
and in Bursa it was listed as 1 million 200 thousand 501.
With the system carried out under the coordination of the Turkish Environment Agency (TÜÇA); It is aimed to separate packaging wastes such as glass, plastic and aluminum at the source and recycle them with high efficiency. By participating in the system through DOA return machines and mobile application, citizens contribute to the protection of the environment and take an active role in recycling processes.
