Speaking at the 3rd World Islamic Economy Summit, Central Bank of the Republic of Türkiye (CBRT) Governor Fatih Karahan said that they support price stability with macroprudential measures.

President Karahan stated that the CBRT’s target is around 5 percent. Karahan said, “Price stability is the key.”

Karahan: “We support our monetary policies with macroprudential measures.” he said.

Highlights from Mayor Karahan’s speech are as follows:

“Our Central Bank’s target is around 5 percent, 2014-2019 was a tight period and investments slowed down. Inflation can offer you a predictable environment. The Covid-19 period was a period of cheap TL, a period of abundance, the future of inflation was predicted and tightening was made and investments slowed down, but inflation was also reduced somewhat.

Price stability is key.”
