A written statement was made about Türkiye’s first smart bottom mine ‘Malaman’, produced by the Machinery and Chemical Industry (MKE).

According to the statement; Designed in accordance with the structure of the seabed, Malaman can operate safely without being affected by overheating and bullet impacts. Malaman, which is included in the inventory of the Naval Forces Command, weighs approximately 600 kilograms, 400 kilograms of which are insensitive underwater explosives. Malaman has the ability to detect, analyze and evaluate acoustic, magnetic and pressure changes occurring underwater in real time.

Equipped with high-tech sensors, the system detects frigates, submarines, assault boats and tankers thanks to this capability and instantly reports the information to the management center. The Firing System, which has the ability to process signals from sensors, can be adjusted with different parameters and successfully neutralizes the detected enemy target by firing the explosive. There are multiple locking mechanisms on the mine to prevent uncontrolled explosion and ensure safety.

DIFFICULT TO DETECT ON THE SEA FLOOR

With its special hull structure, Malaman makes it difficult for minesweeping sonar to detect itself on the seabed; It further strengthens this advantage thanks to 3 different special composite covers developed to minimize acoustic reflectivity and increase visual privacy. These covers, designed in shapes and colors suitable for the natural structure of the seabed, minimize Malaman’s chances of being detected by side-scan sonars and autonomous underwater vehicles.
