Rockstar Games has mobilized all its resources for GTA 6, the highly anticipated new game of the series. The play is considered the most anticipated release of the year and is poised to become one of the most expensive productions in history, perhaps even the most expensive. An official figure has not been announced; however, Business Insider estimates the development cost to date at between $1 billion and $1.5 billion.
Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick did not give an exact figure, but acknowledged that the development process was “expensive.” There is no doubt that making a triple-A, big-budget video game like Grand Theft Auto 6 is not cheap. Development costs for triple-A games have increased significantly in recent years; So much so that the cost of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War reached up to 700 million dollars.
Unlimited financial resources for GTA 6
In an interview with Bloomberg, Zelnick stated that development costs have increased dramatically. However, when it comes to GTA 6, he said Take-Two Interactive offers “unlimited financial resources” to its teams; because he stated that their aim is “to offer perfection”.
The fact that GTA 6 is so costly inevitably brings up the question that everyone has been asking for years: What will be the price of the game? Zelnick did not give a clear answer on this issue and merely said that they offered more value than the price of the game. In response, Bank of America suggested to Take-Two that it might be better to sell the game for $80.
Grand Theft Auto 6 will be released on November 19 for PS5, Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S. The game will also be available for PC at a later date.
