Although the extension of the Eid al-Adha holiday to 9 days created a billion-dollar mobility expectation in the tourism sector, the increasing cost of living has brought holiday costs to a point that is difficult to reach for citizens.

In this period when travel volume is expected to reach 180 billion liras, cost increases worry both holidaymakers and industry representatives.

Firuz Baglikaya, President of the Association of Turkish Travel Agencies (TÜRSAB), stated that domestic prices increased by 25 percent compared to last year and summarized the reflection of the economic situation on holiday budgets with the following words:

450 EURO PER PERSON

“Domestic hotel prices start from 1500 lira per person per night during Eid al-Adha. The average price for a 5-night all-inclusive stay for 2 people is 30 thousand lira. International package prices start from 150 euros per person for bus tours. For plane tours, they start from 450 euros per person.”

Speaking to the Türkiye newspaper and stating that they expect 10 million citizens to travel during Eid al-Adha, TÜRSAB President said, “Cultural tours are especially preferred during the Eid holiday. However, due to the warm weather in this period, there is also a demand for coastal hotels in the southern regions. The demand is mainly concentrated in the Mediterranean, Aegean and TRNC destinations. Destinations such as Antalya, Muğla, Aydın, İzmir and Balıkesir are preferred within this framework. For our citizens who prefer nature and thermal holidays, such as Afyon and Sapanca.” “Destinations provide alternatives. The Black Sea, Cappadocia and GAP region are the regions with high demand in terms of nature and culture tours,” he said.
