Iran has apparently sent the US a response to a peace proposal. The US President is not very enthusiastic about it.

In the tough struggle to find a way out of the Iran conflict, US President Donald Trump rejected Tehran’s response to the US proposal as “completely unacceptable”. “I don’t like her,” the 79-year-old wrote on his online service Truth Social on Sunday.

This followed a US proposal to stop fighting before negotiating more contentious issues such as Iran’s nuclear program. A few days ago, Iran’s government announced that it was examining the proposal from the USA. This is a 14-point declaration of intent. Their goal is, among other things, to create a framework for negotiations that will initially last 30 days in order to finally end the war.

“I just read the response from the so-called ‘representatives’ of Iran. I don’t like it – completely unacceptable!” wrote the US President on Sunday. He did not provide any information about the content of the letter. The USA and Israel attacked Iran on February 28th. There is currently a fragile ceasefire.

Before rejecting Iran’s response, Trump wrote on Truth Social on Sunday: “Iran has been playing games (delay, delay, delay!) with the United States and the rest of the world for 47 years.” Tehran is “laughing at our now great country again,” he added. “You won’t be able to stop laughing!”

Meanwhile, the Iranian agency Tasnim reported that Tehran was demanding an immediate end to the war on all fronts, especially in Lebanon. Iran is also demanding an end to the US naval blockade, guarantees against further attacks and the lifting of sanctions, including the US embargo on Iranian oil sales.

According to a report in the Wall Street Journal, the leadership in Tehran offered to dilute some of its highly enriched uranium and bring the rest to a third country. Pakistan, which is mediating in the conflict, had Iran’s response to the US
forwarded.

Despite the diplomatic blockade, there was a slight relaxation in the Strait of Hormuz: the tanker “Al Kharaitiyat”, operated by QatarEnergy, passed the route safely towards Pakistan. It was the first Qatari ship carrying liquefied natural gas to transit the strait since the United States and Israel began the war on February 28. In addition, a Panama-flagged freighter sailed through the waterway on a route designated by Iranian forces. However, the security situation in the region remains fragile. On Sunday, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and Kuwait reported drones being shot down or intruding into their airspace.
