There is hardly anything left of Trump’s promise to reduce the cost of living. Another promise that was not kept was high additional revenue from tariffs in order to improve the budget situation in the USA.
Americans are increasingly dissatisfied with Donald Trump’s war against Iran. This is shown by a new survey by the Napolitan Institute. Accordingly, only 36 percent of Americans are satisfied (19 percent very satisfied) with the attacks and the course of the war, while 61 are dissatisfied (41 percent very dissatisfied). Among Republicans, 67 percent of respondents are satisfied and 89 percent of Democrats are dissatisfied. More than half (52 percent) of respondents believe the war will cause long-term harm to the United States.
The survey shows that Americans are rapidly losing patience with the war. At the beginning of the week, 57 percent of those surveyed were satisfied, a week ago it was 52 percent – a decline of nine percentage points within a week.
Shortly after the outbreak of the Iran War, the United States evacuated 1,500 soldiers, their families and their pets from the U.S. Navy’s 5th Fleet base. As the US portal “NPR” writes, the soldiers and their followers were flown to the naval base in Norfolk between February 28th – the first day of the war – and March 6th.
Since then, criticism of the rescue flights has been increasing. Because the soldiers and their families arrived in Norfolk with virtually no luggage. They rarely had more with them than would fit in a small backpack, writes “NPR”. The army portal “Legion” writes that in many cases the soldiers arrived without uniforms, jackets or hygiene products: “They came with nothing,” said Marine Commander Derrick Johnson to the portal “Caliber”. Several members of Congress have launched an investigation into why the US Army did not appear to have developed contingency plans in the event of war.
To provide military members with necessities, Norfolk residents held fundraising parties and treated soldiers and their families to spaghetti dinners.
US President Donald Trump wants to include funds in the 2027 budget to reopen the notorious Alcatraz prison. According to a draft budget published by the White House, 152 million dollars (around 132 million euros) will be made available for project planning. It says Alcatraz should be converted into a state-of-the-art detention center. The government’s budget plan is presented to the US Parliament, which ultimately decides.
