Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu stated that 929 thousand vehicles used the connection roads built within the scope of Yusufeli Dam in 2 years and said, “We offered a safer and more comfortable travel opportunity by increasing the transportation standard in the region where high mountains and deep valleys are located.” he said.
In his written statement, Uraloğlu reminded that they opened the Yusufeli Dam connection roads together with the dam in 2022.
Uraloğlu noted that, as the Ministry, they built the connection roads that provide transportation to the new Yusufeli district, whose existing campus and part of the highway were under water within the scope of the Yusufeli Dam construction, and said, “This project is among the biggest projects of our Ministry in the Black Sea Region. Yusufeli Dam roads will be completed by 929 thousand in 2 years. We opened a safer and more comfortable travel opportunity in 2022 by increasing the transportation standard in the region where high mountains and deep valleys are located. Yusufeli roads significantly raise the standard of the north-south axis connecting Artvin to Erzurum, the Caucasus and the Black Sea coastline to Eastern and Southeastern Anatolia.” made his assessment.
Pointing out that Yusufeli roads, which were built to provide access to the new settlements of Yusufeli district, are of bituminous hot mixture coated road standard, Uraloğlu said, “Our project, which we built in 3 sections with a length of 69.2 kilometers, includes 39 tunnels in the 56.7 kilometer section and 3.6 kilometers in the 3.6 kilometer section. It serves our citizens with 19 bridges and viaducts. Within the scope of the project, there are 5 different level and 12 at-grade crossings that connect the settlements in the region to the road. “17 intersections, including 12, make transportation easier in the region.” he said.
