DHL cargo plane crashes into residential building – one dead

A plane crashed in Lithuania. At least one person is said to have died.
A cargo plane that took off from Leipzig on behalf of the postal service provider DHL crashed into a residential building early this morning near the airport in the Lithuanian capital Vilnius. At least one person was killed and another person was injured, Lithuanian radio quoted a spokesman for the rescue service as saying.
The Boeing plane is said to have crashed shortly before the runway at around 3:30 a.m. According to information from the Lithuanian news site “Delfi”, there were four people on the plane – two pilots and two flight attendants. According to the Lithuanian police, the pilot of the plane died at the scene of the accident.
A two-story residential building is said to have caught fire and was evacuated, reports “Delfi”. The 12 people affected remained uninjured. The fire appears to have been put out now. Operations at Vilnius Airport are also expected to resume after a short-term closure.
