$500 million joint investment support from oil giants to combat the climate crisis

Senior officials of TotalEnergies, bp, Equinor and Shell signed a joint agreement within the scope of the 29th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations (UN) Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29), which continues in Baku.

Within the scope of the agreement to increase people’s access to sustainable energy sources, the companies in question will make a joint investment of 500 million dollars.

BP Chief Executive (CEO) Murray Auchincloss said in his written statement on the subject that, thanks to the joint investment announced, they aim to provide millions of people with access to sustainable energy resources over time.

Equinor CEO Anders Opedal also stated that four energy companies will jointly invest in developing countries, and said, “We believe that this effort will help close some of the gaps in access to energy, which plays an important role in achieving the global goal of a fair and equitable energy transition.” he said.
