Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu stated that Türkiye has entered a new era in railway investments and said, “The survey and project studies of 38 new lines with a total length of 7 thousand 84 kilometers have been completed.” he said.

Uraloğlu told the AA correspondent that the railway will again be the backbone of Türkiye in the second century of the Republic.

Pointing out that railways are integrated into the international network, Uraloğlu stated that the project works of 30 railway lines were completed by the Republic of Turkey State Railways (TCDD) and 8 of them were completed by the General Directorate of Infrastructure Investments (AYGM).

Uraloğlu gave the information that the works will begin the construction phase in a short time and said:

“Turkey has entered a new era in railway investments. Surveys and project studies of 38 new lines with a total length of 7 thousand 84 kilometers have been completed. The total length of 30 new lines projected by TCDD is 5 thousand 402 kilometers, and the length of 8 lines designed by AYGM is 1682 kilometers. With these projects, Türkiye’s railway network will be fully compatible with international transportation corridors. Opening to Europe, the Caucasus, Central Asia and the Middle East “The routes will be connected uninterruptedly through Turkey. This step will enable the connection of strategic corridors in the east-west and north-south axes of our country, the integration of production and consumption centers, and the direct participation of ports, organized industrial zones and logistics bases in the railway network.”

EXPORT CARGO WILL BE TRANSPORTED IN A FAST, ECONOMIC AND ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY WAY

Uraloğlu stated that railways are not just a means of transportation, they play a strategic role in economic growth.

Pointing out that industrial and agricultural production centers will be directly connected to the railway network with the implementation of new projects, Uraloğlu said, “Export cargoes will be transported to ports and border gates in a fast, economical and environmentally friendly way. Domestic tourism and intercity journeys will be more comfortable and safe. With the new lines, our domestic market will become more dynamic and we will be more strongly connected to international trade networks. Thus, Turkey will be the center of international logistics corridors extending from east to west, north to south. Eskişehir-Afyonkarahisar-Antalya Fast “In addition to the Train Line, Siirt-Kurtalan and Samsun-Çorum lines are among the projects we plan to start construction on.” made his assessment.

Minister Uraloğlu reminded that within the scope of the 2053 Transportation and Logistics Master Plan, railways, as well as land, air and sea transportation, were again made a priority transportation mode.

Emphasizing that the local and national railway industry is developing, Uraloğlu said:

“We are building our own train and locomotive. We now have a say in the international arena in railways. With the new lines, the railway will be the most important carrier of both environmentally friendly transportation policies and net zero carbon targets. In addition, when our projects are implemented, it will connect the Central Anatolia, Mediterranean and Black Sea regions, and the north-south railway corridors will become even stronger.”
