A wasp nest at the house usually requires professional help – removing your own removal is prohibited. It can be expensive for special inserts. Does the insurance pay?

If the nests are then also in particularly difficult -to -reach or dangerous places on the house or under the roof, in which normal ladders or scaffolding are not sufficient, even the use of a crane may be necessary. Such missions are rare, but actually occur.

The costs for such a special use can be significantly higher than with normal removal. However, residential building insurance can occur. This is pointed out by the owners’ association of living (how).

As a rule, the costs for removing a wasp or bee nest must be borne by the owner or tenant. So if you cannot avoid relocation or distance, you should check your own insurance documents, advises Wie-Bätin Sandra von Möller.

Some household insurance companies offer special house and housing protection letters that cover the removal of wasps and hornet nests as well as beehives per damage. The landlord is responsible for removal for rental apartments, since a wasp nest is considered a lack of the rental property.

If the contract does not contain a corresponding clause, the inclusion of one can be worthwhile, especially for those who have more often problems with wasp, bee or hornet necks, Sandra von Möller continues.

If use with a special tool such as a crane or a work platform is necessary, the costs may be significantly higher than with normal professional elimination.

Standard costs for a wasp nest removal are between 50 and 150 euros, with difficult -to -access nests there may be up to 250 euros. The use of a crane or scaffold is significantly more expensive. It can be assumed that the costs in such cases can be several hundred euros.

The exact costs depend on the size and type of the required crane, the duration of the use, the level of difficulty and, if necessary, additional safety measures, for example closing footpaths or streets.

In any case, it is advisable to obtain several offers before such an elaborate use and to clarify with the insurance company whether it is possible to assume costs. The consumer advice center advises that pest control experts advise. In this way, they also protect themselves from dubious pest fighters who demand a lot of money to remove wasp nests.
