HAS ARTEMIS 2 LANDED ON THE MOON, WHEN WILL IT REACH THE MOON?
The crew of the Artemis II mission, which launched the US Aerospace Agency’s (NASA) first journey to the Moon after more than 50 years, entered the “influence area” of the Moon, where the gravity of the Moon becomes more dominant than that of the Earth.
4 astronauts in the Orion capsule made this transition at a distance of approximately 62 thousand 800 kilometers from the Moon.
The Artemis 2 crew is expected to reach the Moon on Monday, April 6, 2026, at 20:00 Turkish time.
Who is in the Artemis II crew?
NASA’s Artemis II mission includes an international team of four. The astronauts on duty are as follows:
Reid Wiseman (NASA)
Victor Glover (NASA)
Christina Koch (NASA)
Jeremy Hansen (Canadian Space Agency)
During the mission, astronauts will test the systems on the Orion spacecraft and collect new images from around the Moon.
What is the purpose of the Artemis program?
NASA’s Artemis program aims to take humanity back to the Moon and pave the way for permanent exploration there.
The Artemis I mission, carried out in 2022, included an approximately 26-day test flight of the Orion spacecraft around the Moon without an astronaut.
The Artemis II mission stands out as the program’s first manned flight. According to NASA’s plans, the Artemis III mission to land on the Moon is aimed to be realized by 2028.
