According to TÜİK’s “Time Use Research”, we spend the most time sleeping. The number of people reading magazines and newspapers is decreasing.

In 2025, the average day for individuals aged 10 and over was 8 hours and 55 minutes. While women slept an average of 9 hours a day, this time for men was 8 hours and 49 minutes. While the time spent sleeping was 8 hours 41 minutes on weekdays on average, this time was 9 hours 28 minutes on weekends.

WE SPARE THE LEAST TIME FOR SPORTS AND NATURE SPORTS

The activity to which individuals spent the least amount of time during the day was sports and nature sports, with an average of 12 minutes. Women spent an average of 9 minutes a day on these activities, while men spent 16 minutes. After sports and outdoor sports, the activities that individuals spent the least time on were hobbies and games with 26 minutes, and volunteer work and meetings with 37 minutes.

When the average activity durations by age groups were examined, it was determined that individuals in the 10-14 age group devoted the most time to sleep, education, hobbies and games, and sports and outdoor sports activities. The time individuals in this age group devoted to hobbies and gaming activities was 1 hour and 9 minutes, and the time they devoted to sports and nature sports was 27 minutes.

It was observed that the 15-24 age group devoted the most time to social life and entertainment activities. It was determined that individuals aged 55 and over spent the most time on watching TV, listening to radio and music, as well as volunteer work and meetings.

WHILE THE RATE OF PEOPLE PLAYING FOOTBALL DECREASED, VOLLEYBALL INCREASED

When the sports activities carried out by individuals aged 10 and over in the last four weeks were examined, it was seen that the most common sports activities were walking or running with 11.7 percent, football with 4.1 percent and sports activities with equipment with 2.5 percent. When 2015 and 2025 were compared, it was seen that the proportion of individuals who stated that they played football decreased from 5.2 percent to 4.1 percent, while the proportion of individuals who stated that they played volleyball increased from 0.9 percent to 1.4 percent.

WHILE THOSE WHO READ NEWSPAPERS AND MAGAZINES ARE SCARED, SPENDING TIME ON SOCIAL MEDIA INCREASED

When the entertainment and cultural activities of individuals aged 10 and above were examined in the last four weeks, it was seen that the most common activities were watching television with 88.8 percent, spending time on social media with 71.7 percent and visiting relatives with 67.5 percent. The rate of people spending time on social media was 77 percent for men and 66.6 percent for women.

When compared to the results of the research in 2015, it was seen that the highest increase in 2025 was in the rate of individuals spending time on social media. The rate of people spending time on social media increased from 33.9 percent in 2015 to 71.7 percent in 2025.

The most significant decrease compared to 2015 was observed in the activity of reading newspapers, magazines and similar publications. The rate of people performing this activity decreased from 39.4 percent to 20.1 percent.
