Volvo Car Turkey’s new General Manager, Alican Emiroğlu, announced that they will end the sale of sedan models in Turkey due to the latest customs duties.

Emiroğlu explained that the brand’s compact SUV model XC40 no longer offers a gasoline engine option and that the car continues on the road with the name EX40 and is only available in electric mode.

According to the news by Yiğitcan Yıldız from Habertürk; Emiroğlu said, “Since our sedan models are manufactured in China, we will no longer bring these models as of the new year. The recent customs duties were the reason for us making this decision. We do not plan to sell a sedan car in Turkey until the electric sedan models arrive.”

The 40 percent additional tax previously imposed on Chinese-origin electric cars was valid for all fuel-type cars imported from China as of July 2024.
