US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said that his country has “sufficient resources” to finance attacks on Iran, but they requested additional budget from Congress to strongly support the army in the future.

Speaking on NBC News’ “Meet the Press” program, Bessent stated that the additional budget is aimed at strengthening future military capacity rather than covering current expenses.

Stating that the USA has “sufficient resources” to finance attacks on Iran, Bessent stated that they requested an additional budget from Congress to support the army strongly in the future.

Regarding the attacks on Iran’s infrastructure, Bessent said, “Sometimes it is necessary to escalate to reduce tension.” made his assessment.

Arguing that US President Donald Trump’s rhetoric against Iran is “the only language that Iranians understand”, Bessent also said that all options are on the table regarding Hark Island in the Persian Gulf, including making this place a US presence.

Bessent stated that, thanks to the easing of sanctions against Iranian and Russian oil, countries such as Japan and South Korea other than China will be able to purchase oil, and that this could prevent oil prices from rising to 150 dollars per barrel and limit the total revenues of Iran and Russia.

It was stated that the US Department of Defense (Pentagon) requested an additional budget of 200 billion dollars “for the ongoing war with Iran”.
