Trump makes a profit with his punitive tariffs. Around 100 billion euros rinse the taxes into the US cash registers. This also makes an agreement with the EU difficult.

According to Finance Minister Scott Bessent, the United States has recently collected almost $ 100 billion in tariffs – this corresponds to around 85.4 billion euros. “We are approaching the 100 billion brand. I think we could reach 300 billion annually,” Bessent replied in an interview with the US broadcaster Fox Business Network when asked how high the customs revenues have so far failed.

Bessent had previously promised the size of $ 300 billion in additional income by the end of the year. It remained unclear at which specific period of time improves in the calculation of its number of $ 100 billion. The minister emphasized that customs revenues had increased in June without naming a number.

For US President Donald Trump, the additional state revenues come. They close the financial gap, which arise from tax failures by his “Big Beautiful Bill”.

This development is unpleasant for the EU. Trump had announced new punitive tariffs for imports from the EU for August 1. The expected income could further relieve the US budget.
