Fighting in the Gaza Strip has been going on for months. Now Israel’s military has discovered several bodies – according to US sources, these are those of six abducted people.

According to US sources, Israel’s military has recovered the bodies of six hostages in the Gaza Strip. Among them is the American-Israeli citizen Hersh Goldberg-Polin, US President Joe Biden announced in a statement early this morning. The Israeli Foreign Ministry had shortly before released a statement from the relatives in which they announced the death of “their beloved son and brother”. Israel’s army had previously announced that it had found several bodies during an operation in the Gaza Strip.

“At this time, troops are still deployed in the area and are conducting a process to recover and identify the bodies, which will take several hours,” the military announced on social media the evening before. It was initially unclear whether the bodies were those of Israeli hostages. The news sparked protests in Israel. The army did not initially provide any further details early in the morning.
