The US Army is flying severe attacks against the Islamist Huthis in Yemen. The terrorist group spoke of an alleged retaliation.
The United States continued its military strikes against the Huthi militia in Yemen. The operations against the Huthi terrorists supported by Iran continued, the responsible US regional command Centcom announced on Monday night on platform X without further details. The Yemeni news agency Saba, which is controlled by the Huthis, reported two air raids in the early morning hours in the area of the port city of Hudaida, about 230 kilometers southwest of the capital Sanaa.
According to the Arab television station Al Jazeera, the number of fatalities rose through the US attacks to 53. US defense minister Pete Hegseth had described the attacks as a clear message to the Huthi and Iran. As soon as the militia reports that it stopped shooting ships, the United States would stop with its attacks, the Pentagon boss added.
According to an insider, US fight jets also shot eleven drones that had been launched by the Huthis in Yemen. The drones did not come close to the US aircraft carrier Harry S. Truman, said an anonymous US representative of the Reuters news agency. The US representative therefore announced that the US military had also followed a Huthi rocket that had failed in flight and had fallen in front of Yemen in the waters. The US military therefore did not take any measures because the rocket was not regarded as a threat.
The Huthis had declared on Sunday that they had tried to attack a US aircraft carrier off the Yemeni coast. Huthi spokesman Jahia Saree said that 18 rockets and a drone were used in the retaliation attack against the warship in the Red Sea. The US Army did not comment on the alleged attack.
Since the beginning of the Gaza War in October 2023, the Huthis have repeated ships in the Red Sea and in the Gulf of Aden as well as destinations in Israel with drones and rockets-according to their own statements “out of solidarity” with the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip. After an interruption since the beginning of the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip on January 19, the terrorist organization threatened Tuesday with new attacks on Israeli ships, also in the Arab Sea and on the street of Baba al-Mandab.
Trump then announced in his online service Truth Social to apply “overwhelming deadly violence” to reach an end to the attacks. “To all Huthi terrorists, your time has expired, your attacks have to stop from today,” he wrote. If this does not happen, “hell will break off”. U.S. ships should be protected with the air strikes and the freedom of shipping is restored, Trump wrote to justify the Truth Social platform.
The United Nations called on the US armed forces and the Huthi militia to stop “all military activities” after the fatal attacks and the threats of retaliation. “We are concerned with concern the numerous attacks on areas controlled by the Huthis in Yemen through the United States,” said a spokesman for UN Secretary General António Guterres. “We are just as concerned about the uninterrupted threats of the Huthis to resume their attacks on ships in the Red Sea.”
Trump also threatened Iran: he asked Tehran to immediately stop support for the Huthi militia. Otherwise, the USA would “fully account for”-“and we won’t be nice,” warned the US President.
