Turkish Statistical Institute (TURKSTAT) announced the workforce statistics of the January-March period.
Accordingly, the number of unemployed in people of 15 or higher people in Turkey, the number of unemployed, this year’s January-March period, 183 thousand people decreased compared to the previous quarter was identified as 2 million 884 thousand people.
The unemployment rate free of seasonal effect was 8.2 percent with a decrease of 0.4 points. This ratio has been recorded as the lowest rate since the third quarter of 2012. In this period, this rate was 8.2 percent.
Unemployment rate decreased by 0.6 points compared to the same period last year. Unemployment rate was expected to be 6.6 percent in men and 11.2 percent in women.
In the young population covering the 15-24 age group, the unemployment rate free of seasonal influence was 15 percent with a decrease of 0.9 points compared to the previous quarter in the first quarter of this year. The unemployment rate in this age group was estimated to be 10.8 percent for men and 22.7 percent in women.
