In Bavaria, a Ukrainian is said to have taken photos of the premises of a defense company. The 33-year-old is now in custody.
A suspected agent has been arrested in Thuringia on suspicion of sabotage. The 33-year-old Ukrainian is said to have taken photographs of the premises of a Bavarian arms company as a so-called low-level agent on behalf of a foreign intelligence service in June in preparation for sabotage operations. He is said to have forwarded this to his client, such as the Attorney General’s Office Munich and the Bavarian State Criminal Police Office announced on Thursday.
The suspect is now in custody in Bavaria. Forces from the Bavarian LKA and the Thuringian police were involved in his arrest. The Attorney General’s Office is currently not providing any further information about the case.
According to the Office for the Protection of the Constitution, so-called low-level agents are people who are recruited at a low threshold by foreign intelligence services and used for relatively simple operations. The clients accept that these agents will be unmasked.
