Evaluating the unemployment figures announced today, Minister of Labor and Social Security Vedat Işıkhan said that the unemployment figure has fallen to the lowest level since 2005.
Işıkhan stated that youth unemployment is at its best level since 2005.
Minister Işıkhan’s evaluation is as follows;
“We are determinedly strengthening the working life of the Türkiye Century.
The unemployment rate decreased by half a point compared to the previous month and by 1 point compared to the previous year, falling to 7.6 percent in June. Thus, the unemployment rate fell to its lowest level since 2005 and continued to remain in single digits for 38 months. Number of employment, in the same period; It increased by 227 thousand people to 32 million 733 thousand people, and the employment rate increased by 0.3 points to 48.9 percent. We caught a similar positive picture in the workforce.
The number of workforce increased by 58 thousand people, reaching 35 million 420 thousand people, and the labor force participation rate increased by 0.1 point, reaching 52.9 percent. Under the leadership of our President; We continue to implement our policies to increase education and workforce connection for our youth and facilitate access to employment opportunities.
We continue to receive positive results from our Youth Employment Initiative-GÜÇ Project. In June, the youth unemployment rate decreased by 1.8 points compared to the previous month and by 3.8 points compared to the previous year, falling to 12.8 percent.
Thus, it has been at its best level since 2005. As a result of our successful practices for women, the unemployment rate decreased by 0.6 points compared to the previous month and by 1.7 points compared to the previous year, reaching 9.8 percent, and fell to its lowest level since 2012. “We will continue to implement our policies, investments, and practices that will increase employment and qualified workforce by focusing on labor and people.”
