Russian army loses thousands of soldiers at Dobropillja

For months, the Russian army has been trying to break through the lines of the Ukrainian defenders near the eastern Ukrainian city of Pokrowsk. The Army of Kremlin has suffered severe losses on this offensive. In the front section at Dobropillja alone, the Russian side has lost around 3,520 soldiers since the beginning of the Ukrainian counter -offensive in August, the Ukrainian commander -in -chief General Oleksandr Syrskyj said on Sunday. 1,988 Russian soldiers were killed. In a Facebook post, Syrskyj further stated that Ukrainian forces had increased the efficiency of their attacks on opposing positions and care routes in this front section. According to Ukrainian information, 47 Russian soldiers have been exhausted in the past 24 hours and 32 of them were killed. So far, 991 vehicles and artillery shooters have been damaged or destroyed.

There have also been progress in other sections of the front course. In the vicinity of the place Jampil near Lyman, the situation had stabilized, Syrskyj said. Special forces as well as units of the land forces and the national guard carried out search and control operations there to track down remaining Russian sabotage groups. With commanders on site, Syrskyj discussed measures to improve Ukrainian combat performance. The focus is therefore on closer coordination of the units, improved logistics and faster evacuations wounded.
Overall, the Russian advance in Ukraine slows down. According to a report by the US Institute for the Study of War (ISW), Russia brought 447 square kilometers of Ukrainian area under control last month. In July, Moscow had achieved 634 square kilometers in July – apart from the first months of the war, this was the highest value since November 2024. In August it was 594 square kilometers.
The advance of the Russian army stalled in particular in the Donetsk region. There she conquered 181 square kilometers in September. From May to August, Russia had brought about 400 square kilometers under its control there every month. The front course in the region has been almost unchanged since mid -September.
The Ukrainian army chief Oleksandr Syrskyj admitted on Friday that the situation on the front overall was “difficult” and the Russian army in the Donetsk region around the cities of Pokrowsk and Dobropillja will continue to recover. The Russian troops also achieved further terrain in the Charkiw and Dnipropetrovsk regions.
