In the defensive war with Russia, Ukrainian combat drones regularly attack targets far from the front line. This time an air base deep in the Russian hinterland is said to have been attacked.
Ukrainian combat drones attacked the Russian military airport Borisoglebsk in the Voronezh region on Thursday night. The targets were arsenals with glide bombs, Sukhoi fighter jets and fuel depots, several Ukrainian media reported at the same time, citing sources at the SBU secret service. They did not provide any specific information about damage. The air base is located a good 340 kilometers from Ukrainian-controlled territory.
Previously, the governor of the Voronezh region, Alexander Gusev, reported on Telegram about Ukrainian drone attacks. Around 30 are said to have been intercepted. There was damage to more than a dozen houses as a result of falling debris. A woman was taken to hospital with moderate-grade splinter injuries.
Ukraine has been fending off a Russian invasion for over two and a half years. Both sides are making massive use of drones.
