FNSS Defense Systems Chassis and E-Mobility Solutions Manager Varlık Kılıç said that they started to develop the Kaplan platform in 2016 and entered the inventory as a gun carrier vehicle in 2019.
Kılıç gave the information that they integrated the KMC Weapon System on the platform and that they have delivered over 300 vehicles used so far.
Kılıç explained that they have been carrying out the development of hybrid electric power group since 2021 for the vehicle and that they exhibited the technology impression prototype in IDEF 2023 and that they have completed the test, development and verification activities and that they realized Alka integration.
Kılıç said that the need for hybridization of Kaplan was the need for indigenousization of the transmission.

We thought about the hybrid electric solution as an alternative system that will replace this transmission system. We can achieve mobility, acceleration, climbing and land performance.
The vehicle has a generator consisting of diesel and electrical machines. This generator produces the electrical energy required by the electric driving system. Thanks to the battery system, we can use this energy for the electrical driving system when the generator does not work. But thanks to our generator, we can offer the advantages of electric driving in our user by taking all our energy from fuel without the need for a charging in the field. This generator system can also provide external power support on a police station. In other words, it can be used for the charge of other vehicles and in electrical nutrition of other vehicles. At the same time, we offer an infrastructure suitable for new generation weapon systems and task equipment thanks to its high power and high -voltage electrical infrastructure on the vehicle. “
Noting that the diesel generator, which produces the electrical power of the electric driving system, can produce very high powers, Kılıç provides the necessary electrical energy for the mobility needs of the vehicle. This also makes it possible to provide high voltage high -power electrical power required by new generation weapons, such as Alka. Therefore, you do not carry a generator for a high -energy weapon system. You can already use the generator you use to give energy to the vehicle, as well as for a gun system or a task equipment.
