Türkiye’s new era goals in the field of artificial intelligence were discussed at GITEX AI Türkiye held at Istanbul Expo Center. It is hosted by the Presidential Investment and Finance Office and is held in strategic partnership with the Ministry of Industry and Technology.
Speaking on the second day of the event, National Technology and Artificial Intelligence General Manager Sadullah Uzun said that Türkiye is aimed to be among the countries that not only use artificial intelligence but also develop, produce and export it.
ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE TARGET OF 5 MILLION PEOPLE
Uzun gave details about the Türkiye Artificial Intelligence Summit and Artificial Intelligence Action Plan, the main topics of which were announced with the participation of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
Stating that the action plan was based on the principles of “Realize, Use, Produce and Manage”, Uzun announced that it is aimed to reach 5 million citizens in the first stage within the scope of the plan.
Emphasizing that their aim is not to limit artificial intelligence to a certain segment of society, Uzun stated that citizens will be prepared for this transformation according to their age, profession and education levels.
Uzun said, “With the help of artificial intelligence, we want our citizens to be ready to live the age of artificial intelligence.”
“Türkiye IS NOT STARTING THIS RACE FROM SCRATCH”
In GITEX CEO Trixie Loh Mirmand’s speech, Türkiye’s advantages in the artificial intelligence race came to the fore.
Pointing out that Türkiye did not start the new technology race from scratch due to its strong industrial history, LohMirmand said that the main issue for the country is how quickly it can transfer its current production power to the artificial intelligence economy.
LohMirmand said, “Turkey is already one of the world’s leading industrial powers with its achievements. Now the real question is: Can Turkey put forward this industrial power it has to quickly win the next race in the artificial intelligence economy?” he said.
“ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE HAS CHANGED THE COMPETITIVE EQUATION”
Stating that artificial intelligence is reshaping the technology competition between countries, LohMirmand emphasized that Türkiye should gather the industry, entrepreneurship and technology ecosystem around a common goal.
Stating that Türkiye has the will to realize this transformation, LohMirmand stated that the next critical stage is to accelerate.
Stating that GITEX should not be considered only as a technology fair for Türkiye, LohMirmand stated that the event could create a “multiplier power” in terms of connections to be established between international investors, technology companies and startups.
LohMirmand said, “There is no finish line here, we have just begun,” and gave the message that although GITEX AI Türkiye is in its first year, it is aimed to turn into a long-term technology and cooperation platform.
