Sundar Pichai, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Google’s parent company Alphabet, made a statement about the change in Google DeepMind teams from the social media platform account of US-based company X.
Pichai stated that Demis Hassabis, one of the founders of Google DeepMind, will serve as chairman of the board of Google DeepMind and chief scientist of Alphabet, and will also continue to lead Isomorphic Labs.
Stating that Hassabis will devote his time and focus to shaping the future of artificial general intelligence and scientific discoveries in his new position, Pichai stated that this work is of great importance for Alphabet and humanity.
Pichai stated that Google DeepMind’s Technology Director and Chief Artificial Intelligence Architect Koray Kavukçuoğlu will serve as senior vice president of Google DeepMind.
Stating that Kavukçuoğlu will be responsible for model development processes, pioneering artificial intelligence research, Gemini application and developer teams, Pichai said, “Koray has been at Google DeepMind for 13 years and is a world-renowned expert in his field. He founded our deep learning team and pioneered important breakthroughs such as WaveNet and DQN. Google DeepMind is in safe hands.” he said.
