World exports decreased by 0.6 percent on an annual basis in the first quarter of this year, reaching 5 trillion 919 billion dollars, while Turkey’s exports increased by 3.6 percent, reaching 63 billion 603 million dollars.
In the statement made by the Ministry of Trade, foreign trade statistics for the first quarter of 2024 published by the World Trade Organization (WTO) were shared.
In the statement, it was reported that world exports in the said quarter decreased by 0.6 percent compared to the same period last year, reaching 5 trillion 919 billion dollars, while Turkey’s exports increased by 3.6 percent, reaching 63 billion 603 million dollars.
The statement said that annualized world exports decreased by 4.2 percent to 23 trillion 808 billion dollars, while Turkey’s exports increased by 0.8 percent to 257.6 billion dollars.
In the statement, it was pointed out that despite the decline in global exports, the increase in Turkey’s exports continued and the following was noted:
“In this context, the upward trend in the share of our annualized exports in global exports continued in the first quarter of 2024 and rose to 1.082 percent with an increase of 0.05 points compared to the first quarter of 2023. As the Ministry of Trade, we continue our efforts with all our might to increase Turkey’s share in global trade even higher with the policies and strategies we pursue within the perspective of value-added, innovation and competitiveness-oriented exports. In order to further strengthen our position in the global supply chain, we will continue to evaluate the trends in global trade in the best way and increase the gains we have achieved.”
