A Ukrainian reporter asks at the NATO summit Donald Trump about Ukraine support. The president is visibly touched.
At the NATO summit, US President Donald Trump showed himself as a tough negotiator and crazy to the member states to increase their defense budget. At the subsequent press conference, the otherwise controversial politician was also on the other side.
Myroslava Petsa, a reporter from BBC Ukraine, asked Trump about military aid for the country. But Trump did not answer the question, but asked the reporter: “Where do you come from?” She replied in a somewhat trembling voice “I come from Ukraine”. Trump had an “Oh”, then asked if she was currently living in Ukraine.
The reporter said that she was currently with her children in Warsaw, but her husband in Ukraine. “Is your husband a soldier?” Asked Trump. When she affirmed this, Trump briefly said “Wow” and then added: “This is hard for her.” He could see how she moves. Then he also answered her question about more support from defense systems such as the Patriot systems: “We will see if we can provide some.”
Trump showed himself moved, praised the reporter for “the very good question” and then said: “I wish you the best of luck. I can see how she takes it with me. Greetings from your husband.”
