According to a statement from the Aegean Exporters ‘Unions (EIB), the Aegean Tobacco Exporters’ Association, which exports 368 million dollars in January-May period of 2024, carried its exports to 394 million dollars in the first five months of 2025.
Türkiye’s exports of tobacco and tobacco products were 1 billion 4 million dollars in the last year, covering May 31, 2024 and June 1, 2025.
In the same period last year, this figure was 915 million dollars.
Accordingly, the tobacco sector, 7 years later, exceeded $ 1 billion in exports. In 2018, the sector had demonstrated an export performance of $ 1 billion 11 million.
Omer Celal Umur, President of the Aegean Tobacco Exporters’ Association, said that cigarette consumption is watching horizontal.
Tobacco and tobacco products exports did not increase in the amount of quantity, the average export prices increased by 7 percent increase in export revenue noted that Umur, the sector as a sector to protect the level of $ 1 billion, he said.
Reminding that the cigarettes produced in Türkiye have been obliged to use 30 percent of domestic tobacco since 2025, Umur said:
“For this reason, the production of large -leaf virginia and Burley tobacco has increased. 73 million kilograms of tobacco production consists of 30 million kilograms of tobacco. Large -leaf Virginya and Burley tobacco are used in the domestic market today. As the quality of this production increases, we will contribute to tobacco exports. We can reach the production of kilograms. “
