US President Donald Trump said he and Chinese leader Xi Jinping agreed on “many very important points” at their crucial meeting in South Korea. Including soybeans. “We agree on so many things that large quantities, enormous quantities of soybeans and other agricultural products will be purchased immediately, starting now,” Trump told reporters aboard Air Force One on Thursday after departing Busan.

US President Donald Trump has agreed with Chinese President Xi Jinping on many points. The question of rare earths had been clarified, he said, without giving details. According to the dpa news agency, Trump also announced that he would reduce China’s tariff on the drug fentanyl to ten percent. Previously they were 20 percent. On board the presidential plane after the meeting with Xi Jinping, he said that they also discussed the situation in the semiconductor industry. “I think we can sign a trade agreement with China soon.”

They also want to work with China on a solution to the war in Ukraine. Trump plans to travel to China in April next year. He described the meeting with the Chinese leader as “extraordinary and amazing.” They didn’t talk about Taiwan, Trump said.

The meeting between Xi Jinping and Donald Trump ended after one hour and 40 minutes. The US President boarded Air Force One, which was waiting in front of the conference building. Xi drove away in a motorcade. There was initially no explanation from either head of state about how the talks were going. The Chinese President remains in South Korea and is attending the APEC summit.

High-ranking representatives of both governments are present at the meeting between China’s head of state and party leader Xi Jinping and US President Donald Trump. Accompanying Trump on the American side are Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Trade Representative Jamieson Greer, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick, Chief of Staff Susie Wiles and US Ambassador to China David Perdue. Xi Jinping will be accompanied by Foreign Minister Wang Yi, Vice Minister Ma Zhaoxu, Vice Premier He Lifeng, Chief of Staff Cai Qi, Commerce Minister Wang Wentao and National Development and Reform Commission Chairman Zheng Shanjie.
