In Turkey, as of the end of September 2024, the total number of active domain names in the Trabis (Network Information System) records reached 1 million 270 thousand.

According to the compilation of the AA correspondent, Information and Communication Technologies and Communication Technologies and Communication Institution (BTK) of the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, “.TR” domain names management has been made by Middle East Technical University (METU) since 1991. With the Electronic Communication Law No. 5809 enacted in 2008, it was decided to determine the procedures and principles regarding the domain name management by the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure.

The “Internet Area Name Regulation” prepared by the Ministry was published in the Official Gazette on 7 November 2010 and entered into force. With the Regulation, the authority and duty of the work and transactions related to the allocation of domain names with extension “extension was given to the BTK.

Within the scope of this task, Trabis (.TR Network Information System) within the scope of ICTA started its operations on 14 September 2022. Within the scope of the development of Trabis, the Communiqué on the Amendment of the Internet Domain Names Communiqué on the Official Gazette on 10 June 2023 and some updates needed for the management of domain names were made by BTK. The first allocation of the domain names in the “.A.tr” structure organized by the Board decision and the procedures and principles regarding the issues to be applied in this process entered into force.

Accordingly, priority is given to the domain names allocated in the in force of public institutions and organizations and more than half of the public organizations in the allocation transactions. In the first allocation of the internet domain names in the “A.TR” structure, Trabis by Trabis, “A.gov.tr”, “A.edu.tr”, “A.TSK.tr”, “A.Bel.tr”, “a. Pol.tr “,” A.K12.tr “is allocated free.

Then, professional organizations, public institutions, public associations and tax exemption foundations and employee or employer professional organizations existing to the existing “Org.tr” domain names are allocated according to their applications.

The “first arrives first gets” rule will be implemented

The fees of the field names in the “A.TR” structure are issued by the Board. Accordingly, “Gov.tr, Edu.tr, TSK.tr, Bel.tr and K12.tr” for the area names to be produced free of charge.

In Turkey, there were approximately 460 thousand active areas in the pre -Trabis period. From 2022 to the end of September 2024, 810 thousand domain names were allocated from 2022 to the end of Trabis. Thus, the total number of active domain names reached 1 million 270 thousand.

The biggest share in the Trabis records belongs to the websites with 981 thousand 821 and “Com.tr” extension. This is followed by 164 thousand 528 “.tr”, 30 thousand 62 and “Gen.tr”, 28 thousand 8 and “org.tr” extension. In addition, there are domain names for various professions such as “.web”, “.Av”, “.bel”, “.edu”.

84.5 percent of the websites that use the field names in Turkey, 5.3 percent of the USA, 4.3 percent of Germany, 1.4 percent France, 1.3 percent of the Netherlands, 0 percent, 0 percent 8 of them are Canada, 0.6 percent of the UK and 1.9 percent in other countries.

Domain Disputes are resolved in “Tr Domain Names Dispute Resolution Center”
The procedures and principles regarding the operation of the “dispute resolution mechanism” (ULA) were regulated by the BTK within the scope of the Internet domain name Regulation.

The Dispute Resolution Center, which is put into service for rapid, effective and fair resolution of the “.tr” domain names in a “extension” extension, offers alternative solutions for disputes arising from the allocation, use or violation of domain names.

In this context, the Information Technologies and Internet Security Association (BTİDER), Istanbul Arbitration Center (ISTAC) and TOBBUYUM MEDICAL MEDICAL AND DISPUTE Solution Center aims to resolve disputes without going to court.

Thanks to the center that provides decisions through independent referees between the parties, the advantage of time and cost is provided and the grievances of the beneficiaries are prevented.

In the resolution of disputes, international standards and the relevant legislation in Turkey are taken into consideration.
