Minister of Agriculture and Forestry İbrahim Yumaklı stated that a record 8.3 million tons of grain has been purchased from 176 thousand producers since May 21, and said, “So far, 34.3 billion lira has been transferred to the producers’ accounts, and payments continue regularly.” he said.

In his written statement, Yumaklı evaluated the grain purchasing process carried out by the Soil Products Office (TMO) in order to ensure that farmers receive full compensation for their labor in the 2026 production season and to maintain stability in the market.

Yumaklı stated that they started to purchase wheat and barley registered in the Farmer Registration System (ÇKS) against a commitment as of May 21, in order to meet the storage needs of producers who harvested early in May, and stated that they announced the purchase prices on June 2 in order to ensure market regulation.

Yumaklı pointed out that the average daily purchase amount, which was 200 thousand tons as of May 21, reached 370 thousand tons with the intensification of the harvest, and said, “TMO has purchased a record 8.3 million tons of grain from 176 thousand producers since May 21. Today, we buy the amount of grain that we sell in a month in winter. While 3.4 million tons of grain have been purchased in 2023, this figure is 8 today.” “It has exceeded million tons, which means more than twice the product.” he said.

– Warehouse occupancy rates are at 65-70 percent

Emphasizing that the activities are continuing determinedly at around 650 purchasing points throughout the country, Yumaklı stated that the highest purchases on a geographical region and provincial basis were made in the Central Anatolia Region, and that Konya ranked first with a purchase exceeding 1.3 million tons on a provincial basis.

Minister Yumaklı stated that in order to prevent producers from suffering, they make purchases in silos, warehouses, hangars and suitable open stack areas in the institution’s workplaces, as well as in licensed warehouses, and that they secure the products by renting suitable open stack areas at the points where licensed and closed warehouses are full.

Stating that warehouse occupancy rates were around 65-70 percent during this period when the harvest was intense, Yumaklı stated that the claims that TMO would stop purchasing due to its warehouses being full do not reflect the truth, and that purchases will continue until the last product arrives.

– “We gave 450 thousand appointments to 272 thousand producers”

Yumaklı stated that the appointment system they established to enable producers to deliver their products regularly and quickly was working, and that they made 450 thousand appointments to 272 thousand producers for 12.6 million tons of products from the date the prices were announced until the end of the season.

Giving information that the producer-based appointment realization rate has been 87 percent to date, Yumaklı noted that the total appointment capacity opened is 17.8 million tons and the appointment capacity occupancy rate is 72 percent.

“34.3 BILLION LIRA WAS TRANSFERRED TO PRODUCERS’ ACCOUNTS”

Yumaklı stated that farmers’ product prices have been transferred to their accounts as of the 21st day in line with legal principles and said, “Product prices have been transferred to our producers’ accounts as of the 21st day. So far, 34.3 billion liras have been transferred to the producers’ accounts, and payments continue regularly.” he said.

Stating that TMO will start grain sales as of October 1 within the framework of planned and sustainable agricultural policies, Yumaklı stated that the sales prices were determined as 18 thousand 500 liras per ton for the 2nd group of pasta and bread wheat, and 14 thousand liras per ton for the 2nd group of barley.
