Anne Applebaum, US publicist and wife of Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski, bitterly assessed Trump’s negotiating team in The Atlantic magazine: “The corruption they embody is far more serious: they abuse the instruments of the American state to benefit their friends and business partners, while at the same time inflicting serious damage on American allies, American alliances and America’s reputation. It is a conflict of interest of gigantic proportions. which is unprecedented in modern American foreign policy.”
